UNDERSTANDING ANOREXIA & BULIMIA
Hosted by two young teen narrators, this powerful DVD introduces middle school students to anorexia and bulimia. Viewers will hear from several real teens who have successfully overcome their own eating disorders. The warning signs, symptoms and health risks of anorexia and bulimia are explained in a way that viewers will be able to comprehend. The narrators spend time explaining that eating disorders are serious yet curable illnesses that can happen to anyone.

Viewers will learn that eating disorders are often related to a person's concerns about body image and self-esteem. Understanding Anorexia & Bulimia also examines the dangerous mindset that can arise when young people base their expectations for how their bodies should look upon the perfectly sculpted physiques of Hollywood actors and glamorous media figures. Developing realistic personal expectations and goals are discussed. The Teacher's Resource Book offers follow-up activities to help students consider their own personal views about body image and self-esteem.
