This documentary focuses on the actual experiences of four families as they care for an elder with Alzheimer's Disease. Seen from the perspective of four ethnic minority groups -- Chinese, Japanese, Latino, and Vietnamese -- the program shows the obstacles they face, including:
~ language barriers
~ lack of support from the extended family
~ inaccurate information about the disease and its etiology
~ cultural norms that mitigate against long term placement.
Possible solutions to some of these problems are discussed by family members as well as professionals in the field of gerontology.
