ETHICAL ISSUES IN NURSING: PROTECTION - PRIVACY, SAFETY AND STANDARDS
This program focuses on the third provision in the nursing code of ethics pertaining to protection. We address the importance of patient privacy and confidentiality, while highlighting the key mandate HIPAA. This program explores the various ways that nurses can successfully advocate for their patients including those who participate in research. We also address the role of an ethics committee and the challenge of identifying and acting on questionable practice.
