CODEPENDENCE: OVERCOME CODEPENDENCE AND DEVELOP HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
By Jef Gazley, M.S.. LMFT

Codependency is a learned behavior that can be passed down from one generation to another. It is an emotional and behavioral condition that affects an individual's ability to have a healthy, mutually satisfying relationship. Codependency is the tendency to over-control others. There is a very noble, unselfish, and authentic desire to help other people, but there is also a selfish component to codependence. The codependent is often very insecure and is just as dependent on the substance abuser as the abuser is on their substance. People who are codependent typically grew up in alcoholic or chemically dependent families, learning directly from their family of origin how they should act, and are simply just repeating what was taught.

Codependency is a disorder that can be treated effectively and the information in this educational video is presented clearly and is easily understood. It is a great place to start for recovery of this syndrome. Relationships should be characterized by two strong and equal people devoid of excessive need. This mental health video teaches how to accomplish this. Break the destructive codependent/addictive game that is so prevalent in the world today.

This self-help DVD about codependency focuses on the symptoms, origin, solution and treatment for a codependent relationship, and is an effective way to learn how to deal with this problem.
