What would it truly take to design a 'home' in the long-term care setting? This program identifies the ideal 'home' environment for care facilities by pinpointing many of the characteristics central to a resident's sense of emotional and physical well being. Based on first-hand input from residents, family members, and caregiver staff, the program looks at everything from cultural and spiritual needs to the physical environment and activities, and uses that information to document how caregivers and facilities can enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
Staff will learn practical tips they can use to help residents:
~ stay connected to the outside world,
~ participate in familiar, meaningful activities, and
~ maintain a sense of personal choice and control.
