Lars in Sweden - My name is Lars, I'm 8 years old and I'm a Laplander. My ancestors were nomads, but today we live in a house and raise reindeer. We have over 600 of them and I always get to help. In Sweden the weather is quite cool in the spring. The frozen rivers are only just starting to melt. But during the winter the temperature goes down to minus 30 degrees. The days are very short. It can stay dark for almost 24 hours. Even in the 21st century these animals remain essential to our way of life. Without them, like our ancestors before us, we couldn't survive.
