Eve, who interns at a local radio station, wants to attend an upcoming music festival with her co-workers, but her father refuses to allow her to go because last year's festival was too rowdy. When Mr. Hughes, the advisor to Eric's school newspaper, insists that Eric cover a school board meeting rather than the music festival, Eric argues back and ends up quitting the paper. Frustrated by the out-of-date software she and her co-workers are forced to use and blamed for a problem that occurs as a result, Marissa blows up at her boss.
Eager for help in resolving their conflicts, the three teens call in to a teen-advice talk show at the local radio station. Eve learns that if she sends her father an adult message rather than a child message, she'll get back an adult message instead of a parent message. Eric discovers that if he discusses his differences with Mr. Hughes and brainstorms for solutions, the two can work things out. By applying the negotiation skills she learns about from the talk-show hosts, Marissa convinces her boss to invest in new software.
