INTRODUCTION TO DEPRESSION
This programme follows the treatment of two patients with severe depression at an in patient unit. They have different presentations. The programme is inter cut with comments from psychiatrists, nurses and therapists.
As it happens, both patients have suicidal thoughts and they vividly explain these in some graphic detail.
The programme follows their progress over six months and includes follow-up. Implicit in this follow-up is the fact that a good and sustained recovery is possible.
Treatment is mentioned to some extent but the emphasis of this programme is on the nature of the condition.
