Bestival is a four-day music fest at the Robin Hill Country Park in Isle of Wight, England and is annually organized by Rob da Bank, a BBC 1 radio DJ with his wife Josie who's a graphic designer. Rob da Bank also owns a record label called Sunday Best and hence the name Bestival.

Sapporo Snow located on the island of Hokkaido. This festival has been going on since 1950 and it's a must see if you love the snow. Sapporo Snow is held halfway the first week of February and it lasts for a week!

Bonnaroo located in Manchester Tennessee. The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is a four-day music festival and you should definitely not miss it! So make the second week of June free and come to this exciting event.

Chinese New Year, unlike our typical New Year, doesn't have one specific date. The date depends on the new moon falling between January 21st and February 20th. In China, they call it Spring Festival because they've adopted the Gregorian calendar.

Kumbh Mela only happens every 12 years. Kumbh means pot, pitcher, or jar and Mela means fair or festival. Rainbow Serpent Held in Beaufort, Victoria for yet another amazing music and arts festival.

Roskilde is a city that can be found west of Copenhagen, capital of Denmark, where the Roskilde Festival is held. It's the biggest music fest in Northern Europe. It's been around since the 70s, held for four days, starting from either the last Thursday of June or the first Thursday of July.

The Toronto International Film Festival is once again knocking on the doors of all film love, the festival is more often referred to as 'TIFF' because aside from the fact that the full name is too long, it's a waste of breath to say the entire name when every film-loving person in Toronto understands what you mean by simply saying 'TIFF.'

Governors Ball located at Governors Island in New York. The maiden edition was hugely successful that it had the highest attendance of any event held on Governors Island.

Mysteryland which originated in The Netherlands; its first edition was launched in 1993 and it has always been held at the Floriade Terrain in Haarlemmermeer since 2003. Held the last weekend of Augsust.

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It's the biggest hot air balloon festival in the world and there is nothing like it! This one-of-a-kind experience lasts for nine days!! Oktoberfest starts in mid-September to the first weekend of October.

Oktoberfest's roots leads us to Munich, Germany and it's a national holiday so the entire country is going to be drenched in beer. Plus, other countries also observe the Oktoberfest celebration, and why not? Surely, there's no one who would refuse to a river of the best brewed beer that'll last for two weeks.

The Secret Garden Party is located on Mill Hill Field, Abbots Ripton near Huntingdon in England. Every last weekend of July, people gather in this event to expect a great, maybe the best, weekend they'll have. But do not have expectations! Do not plan on what to do when you get to Mill Hill Field because whatever happens this year will probably not happen next year!

Gion Matsuri dated back centuries ago when all sorts of catastrophes have hit Kyoto: fire, earthquakes, and floods and the people are doing a purification ritual called goryo-e to appease the gods who were thought to be bringing these disasters to the city.

Naadam In between two powerful countries, Russia and China, lies the underrated country of Mongolia. It's like a mini-Olympics in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, and it's one of the most highly anticipated and most widely watched festivals in the country.

Latitude is in the county of Suffolk in an estate called Henham Park. A four-day L Festival that happens every second weekend of July.

Lollapalooza is one of the most popular music fests in the US and whenever the end of July and the beginning of August approaches, Chicago's population swells like a rubber balloon getting filled by helium for two to three days. The Lollapalooza stage is known to be a stepping stone for some of the famous artists today.

San Fermin In the city of Pamplona, Spain, one of the most exciting events is the festival of San Fermin, Pamplona's patron saint, the Running of the Bulls which happens from the second day until the last day of the festival every morning at 8 am.

Sinulog Come to Cebu City in the Philippines, the metropolis of the Central Visayas area for the Sinulog Festival! It's one of the biggest and most famous festivals in the Philippines. The activities related to the festival start as early as December but the main event happens on the third week of January. This grand festival serves as a clash of the Philippine culture's past and present; this event commemorates a Catholic celebration at the same time incorporating the pagan culture the Filipinos had during the pre-colonization period.

The Notting Hill Carnival happens on the August Bank Holiday in the United Kingdom; the last Sunday of August and the Monday after. This carnival was founded for a great purpose: to overcome racial tensions because in the late 1950s to early 1960s.

Thaipusam is an annual three-day celebration during the full moon in between mid-January and mid- February in honor of Lord Murugan, the Hindu god of war. This event is observed in Hindu communities all over the world but the most popular destination is in Malaysia for the famous Batu Caves.

Junkanoo Parade is held in sunny Bahamas and happens during the Christmas holiday beginning at 2 am in the morning of December 26th and ends on New Year's Eve.

The Songkran Water Festival or simply Songkran, is Thai New Year's celebration. Songkran comes from a Sanskrit word which means "to pass" or "to move into." It is a national holiday and the festival starts every 13th of April and usually ends on the 15th. In some areas in Thailand, the festival begins a few days earlier and would last for a whole week. Songkran also marks the start of summer and the beginning of the new solar year.

Art Basel is a yearly international art fair held in Basel, Miami Beach, and Hong Kong. It usually showcases modern and contemporary artwork by both established and developing artists. Each art fair last for 3-4 days. Art Basel Hong Kong is scheduled on March, Art Basel in Basel on June, and Art Basel in Miami on December.

The Venice Carnival is an annual festival held in Venice, Italy. It usually begins about two weeks before Ash Wednesday and ends on Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. Just like other carnivals in the world, The Venice Carnival is a pre-lenten season festival, where meat, fatty, and sugary foods are not allowed, so the word "Carnival" came from the Latin words that meant "farewell to meat."

Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead is a tradition of honoring the dead originating from Mexico. Dia de Muertos is celebrated every November 1st and 2nd but sometimes, people start the party on the night of October 31st. Although other Catholic nations call November 1 All Saints' Day and November 2 All Souls' Day and commemorate these two days more solemnly, the Mexicans see things differently.

The Art Biennale has been around for a long time now. This event was originally in honor of the King of Italy and his wife Queen Margherita's silver wedding anniversary. It was supposedly an exhibit for Italian Art, but later on, the city council of Venice thought of reserving an exhibition space for foreign artists as well. The first Art Biennale was opened in 1895 by the King and Queen of Italy.

Calle Ocho means "8th street" and true enough, it's celebrated along Southwest 8th Street in Little Havana where about 24 blocks are closed for the street party! Since Calle Ocho coincides with the city's carnival, carnival-level mayhem is expected. In 1977, some Cuban-Americans considered having a bicycle race on Southwest 8th street but the idea was rejected because that'll be too competitive in nature instead of fun and cultural.

Boi Bumba roughly translates to "Beat the Bull" and it all started from a folklore called Bumba Meu Boi which is about a bull that was killed and was brought back to life and the festival is all about retelling the story of the Bull in elaborate and spectacular fashion.

Aboriginal Australians believe that whenever a rainbow appears in the sky, the Rainbow Serpent is moving from one waterhole to another.

The celebration of Yi Peng depends on the Thai lunar calendar, therefore, the dates vary every year but the date usually falls on October or November. Yi Peng is of Hindu origins but it was adapted as a Buddhist practice. It serves as a time where people make merit or good deeds.

Burning Man is a yearly festival that is held in the black rock desert of Nevada in the United States. The goal is to bring as many people as possible to erect a temporary community in the desert for the duration of the festival. Self-expression is celebrated here, so bring yourself and let loose.

Holi Festival of Colors is a Hindu celebration in India and Nepal. The festival's date varies every year, but it is usually celebrated in March. Holi is a celebration for the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It is also attributed to the victory of good over evil. The term "Holi" came from the demoness Holika who was defeated by a prince because of his unwavering devotion to the Hindu god preserver, Vishnu.

Coachella Colorado Desert in sunny California comes alive during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival or simply Coachella. Although it began in 1999, Coachella only became an annual event starting 2001. The following year, it became a two-day event and then it expanded to a three-day event in 2007 and finally, became a two-weekend festival in 2012. Coachella falls on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the second and third weeks of April. You get to choose in which weekend you'll get to attend. It's perfect for summer vacations with the heat of the sun and the scorching desert, plus music that will surely hype you up.
